C'est le temps des sucres! - The sugaring-off is almost here!
March Break is coming and what better time to partake in the most Canadian of traditions: the sugaring-off! Let yourself savour the flavour.
In French it is "le temps des sucres" and the whole evaporation process takes place in the "cabane à sucre". The end product is "le sirop d'érable". Locally owned, locally made, the only ingredient is tree sap. It can be used to sweeten anything and everything.
'The First Nations shared their knowledge of cooking down maple sap with the first French settlers who arrived in the 1600s.

It might be best to call the farm before driving out.

Grade 6 - La Francophonie
Grade 6 students learned about La Francophonie, an international organization of French-speaking nations in the world. Canada has three seats at the table: one for the whole of Canada, one for Québec and another for Nouveau-Brunswick (enshrined in the Constitution as Canada's only officially bilingual province).
Grade 4 Projects
For the Grade 4 projects, students were assigned a province or other regions such as Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Haida Gwaii. We learned a lot about Canada. Students had a choice to present their projects using poster board or video.
Social Studies Projects - Grade 3
Here are some Grade 3 students with their projects. We learned lots about municipalities both big and small across Ontario.
